Thanksgiving Camp Nov. 22-23, 2021 Join us in finding new wonders for which to be thankful. This is the perfect time of year to take time to notice of things we haven't before, and to be thankful for the wonders that nature brings. We will explore leaves and how the change of seasons affects the trees, as well as do some crafts and taste some fall foods, including apples and making homemade applesauce. The children love setting up their own restaurants and serving whatever is left in the garden, and creating winter homes for any bugs we find. |
Winter Solstice Holiday Camp
Dec. 21-22, 2021 I’m so excited to get to share the Winter Solstice with children each year! We will look at folk stories around this shortest day of the year, and make some lanterns to take home and light the dark evening. Lots of snowflakes and holiday crafts will be made, and we will enjoy some warm holiday treats! This is also a great time to learn about mistletoe, which is toxic to people, but the berries and leaves provide high-protein food for many animals. Many birds rely on mistletoe for food and nesting material. Butterflies lay their eggs on the plants and use the nectar as food. |
