Camping in Rocky Mountain National Park
July 8-12, 2018 Come join us for a beautiful camping experience in Rocky Mountain National Park. We have a group site reserved in Glacier Basin Campground, on the East side of the park, near Estes Park. The scenery and wildlife viewing is spectacular, and there are many trails and ranger-led programs throughout the park, as well as fishing nearby. The park shuttle stops in the campground, and can take you to many other trails and panoramic views.
There are bathrooms and water available (though no showers here), as well as picnic tables and food lockers, for extra critter protection. We will send a more detailed packing list and ways to prepare for this experience towards the end of June, but here is a link where you can learn more about this campground. This is around 8,500 feet in elevation, so the weather should be warm during the day and cool at night, with some occasional summer showers. We will give you some tips on avoiding altitude sickness as well.
Registration is $110 per person, and is paid through Families in Nature. This fee includes the reservation and all the trip details, dinner the first night, firewood for the week, and some programming and activities. There is a separate entrance fee of $30 per vehicle, which is good for 7 days, or you can use any annual National Parks Pass. Please contact me if you are not a FIN member and need help registering.
Parents Nights Out
These evenings are offered as an affordable way for parents to spend some quality time with themselves or each other, while the children get to play with friends. Some children call it "Kids Night Out!" Each evening begins with some outside exploration and play, as well as a picnic dinner (slices of cheese pizza included for each child). Various seasonal crafts, activities and games are always fun, and for the second half of the evening, we get cozy inside with a movie and some fresh popcorn. The children love snuggling up at school after dark with their PJ's, stuffies, blankets and pillows!
These evenings are for children 3 and up and are held from 5-9pm at the Headwaters Creek Elementary campus at 9607 Brodie Ln. the 4th Saturday of each month (Sept/Oct & Jan.-April) The next event will be in September 2018 The cost is $40 for one child, or $65 for two. All children are welcome, not just Headwaters students!
Please bring a water bottle, and any fruits or veggies to accompany the pizza, as well as sleeping bags, pillows, pj's, and anything else your child would like to cuddle up with at the end of the evening.
There is a minimum enrollment of 5 needed, and if more than 12 register, Nature's Wonder will hire an additional, and just as wonderful, staff member to help.

We will also look for some mistletoe that we can use this holiday season. We will taste cider, and make some spicy sachets with herbs from our garden, and we will also get to play lots of tag and cooperative games throughout the day.

Summer Week-long Camps
Join us for a whole week of exploring! We will be out in one of our wonderful city parks, and the trails offer seclusion and lots of opportunities for exploration. Because we like to follow the children's interests, there are sure to be new discoveries each day, and we will guide and support them as their curiosities arise.
Each week can offer learning about many things, depending on the children's interests. Past interests and topics include Leave No Trace ethics, Biomimicry, plant and bird identification, geocaching, tracking animals, solar energy, learning about rocks and water and their history, mapping, and so much more!
Each week, we ask the children to choose an organism with which they want to connect with and learn more about, whether it's an animal, plant, or element. It is a sweet way to experience our connection with Nature, discover our interconnectedness with all beings, and find empowerment as agents of healing change. Many children also enjoy adopting a "nature name" during the week, and some even connect deeply with a "spirit animal."
This camp is for ages 5 and up, and due to unusually high temps, we will meet at Mary Moore Searight Park from 9am-3pm June 4-8, 2018 AND June 11-15, 2018
This camp requires a $50 deposit to hold your spot, which will be deducted from the total cost. Deposits may be paid online, & remaining balances may be paid online or on your child's first day of camp.
